Greetings,
People have frequently complained that XS-httpd's configuration is
slightly complicated and non-standard. I intend to clean this up, but
am not sure what to replace it with. Therefore I encourage users to
express their wishes for a new layout of the configuration file.
I also want to rely more on the use of the recently introduced .xsmatch
files (for which I still expect more input on what an appropriate syntax
would be). In time, this should reduce the amount of local special
configuration files (.charset, .noxs, .xsscripts, etc.)
For a start I'd like to remove some options from the global httpd.conf
configuration file. These options all default to true, and I have yet to
encounter people turning these features off (at least when they have
compiled in the appropriate libraries). Needless to say that removing
these options will also improve readability of the httpd source code.
UseCharset
UseRestrictAddr
UseVirtualHost
UseVirtualHostDir
UseLocalScript
UsePcreRedir
UseLdapAuth
Please express your opinions and reply to the xshttpd-devel mailinglist
(subscription required) or to me personally.
Greetings,
Johan
